Thanks L

I am not 100% clear on how/why this came about, but thanks L for taking the time to honour our little Kona...with a butterfly-filled rainbow land.

Post-hiatus Projects

Yes, we have taken some time away from putting anything up here, and from doing anything on the house. We know. We are sorry. But this weekend marked the jumping back in to working on the house, even if it's only small projects now. I finished the top to the bench on the deck (something I have been putting off for a month and only took about 2 hours). I also put in the spice rack shelving that Katie has been bugging me about for about 8 months. Yay progress!

Just a reminder of the before. Pretty swell progress, huh?

Sod Party!

3:52 PM at 3:52 PM

We had a pretty sweet sod party this morning. Over 100 people committed to come and help lay sod, but most of them flaked out. Only the most dedicated actually made it to our house. Or back yard looks really nice now. I just have to make sure that my brown thumb doesn't kill it. If so, Sod Party Part II, this time next year.

The ceremonial first course. Tristan seems be doing the most work at the moment.

Progress!

The finished result. So lush and green. And while we have had to water the hell out of it right now, it is draught tolerant grass so it should require less water overall...assuming it takes.

The sod fairies left a message in the place of our future deck.

Blank Slate (so to speak)

Can you feel the potential?

Front yard

9:46 PM at 9:46 PM

This weekend while Katie worked every day (someone has to earn some money around here,) I did some work in the front yard. I finished putting down some landscaping fabric and the mulch that we bought a few weeks ago. It looks pretty nice. Also it was just an all around gorgeous day so it was nice being outside.

I really like how green the grass is in this photo. Yay things not all being dead!

We also have some nice little flowers blooming...It wasn't anything that we planted, but it still looks nice. In fact, I think most of the things that we planted isn't doing so hot, but I still have my fingers crossed.

P.S. Remember winter? I know everyone is ready for it to be over, but I'm going to miss that guy. I like snow storms. Also, I generally dislike being hot.

Early morning outside work.

New Lights!

10:11 PM at 10:11 PM

New Lights! I spent all weekend up in my Attic rewiring and installing some new lights in the Kitchen and Dining rooms. It was dirty and was potentially dangerous...what's not to like? I encountered some difficult (for me) to understand wiring while trying to tackle the dining room light. It took me a while of looking at the existing wiring to figure out that I needed to draw what I was seeing. Then it took me longer to figure out that I needed to talk about what I was seeing. Then we figured it out. And it all works.

The Kitchen light doesn't have the same sense of drama it seems...but it is highly functional.

Kona's New Spot

10:05 PM at 10:05 PM

Kona isn't really any different than any other cat, she will seek out the highest spot she can and just sit there. Seems kind of dull to me. She just figured out that she could make it up to our wine shelves. If she weren't cute, I'd probably be mad.
